Looking in our rear-view mirror, we see the 1982 acquisition of a small Delaware insurance company. Three years later, our parent company, Lancer Financial Group, Inc., purchased the broadly licensed Underwriters Insurance Company from Employers Insurance of Wausau. In September of that same year, the two companies merged and Lancer Insurance Company was established. The new Lancer then proceeded to secure licenses in all 50 states, Washington DC, and Puerto Rico.

When we initially entered the bus insurance market in 1985, both the motorcoach and insurance industries were in chaos. Time magazine's cover story entitled "Sorry America, Your Insurance Has Been Cancelled" dramatized the liability insurance crisis of the time. Bus owners were hard pressed to find the money to pay skyrocketing premiums and scrambling even harder to find an insurer that would provide a quote.

We entered into that unsettled marketplace boldly declaring that we were "Committed to Bus Insurance"... committed to providing a stable and secure market bus owners could depend on. We strongly believed the best way to accomplish that goal was to better understand the bus business. So we built a home and field staff that had a tremendous amount of operational, safety and claims experience...in the bus business.

It was a risk well worth taking.

Today our reach extends nationwide and encompasses a broad portfolio of primarily specialty commercial auto insurance products and services. Most of the key players on our team back in 1985 are still on board and that core group has been bolstered with fresh talent possessing the ability and passion to create effective insurance solutions. Our focus on providing quality protection, claims management and customer service has resulted in an impressive record of growth and profitability, and has earned us a consistent A- (Excellent) rating from the A.M. Best Company.
